The future is plant-based

In a world where our food production accounts for a quarter of human climate impact, we need to find other types of protein than animal protein, both out of consideration for the climate and our own health.
On average, a plant-based dish has half the climate impact of a meat dish, so replacing the meat makes a big difference.

In addition to developing good and flavorful products, we also have a vision to increase awareness about the consumption of plant-based protein in Sweden and thus contribute to a climate-smart and more sustainable world.

Pia Schömenyr started developing plant-based dishes back in 2011 and interest has only increased.

How it all began

The story of VegMe began with a creative restaurateur family with a great interest in vegetarian, tasty food and a genuine interest in innovation and development. It was on Ingarö outside Stockholm that VegMe was born under the leadership of Pia Schönemyr, through endless hours of creativity and experimentation in the search for new food innovations. Here you can still find our taste lab where we develop new product ideas and test our recipes. Taste and quality were the guiding principles of the work then, and they still are today.

Our unique umami taste

The flavors in VegMe's products are unique and distinct. Our minced meat has "fooled" many talented chefs in blind tests where VegMe's minced meat has been confused with animal minced meat. This is the result of the flavors in all products being homogenized. This means that the flavoring is not just used as a marinade on the surface, but it runs throughout the entire product.

VegMe's proteins

Our climate-smart plant-based proteins are appreciated by vegans, vegetarians and flexitarians as much as by meat lovers. For us at VegMe, taste is the most important thing. We always choose Swedish ingredients for our ready-made meals and proteins. VegMe Sweets, on the other hand, is Italian.
